AM Ink Publishing was founded in 2010 by Michael Aloisi shortly after earning his MFA in Creative Writing. Established with the goal of publishing a diverse range of books, the company quickly found success. As a lifelong horror fan, Aloisi soon launched the Dark Ink imprint, creating a home for genre fans and authors built on a passion for horror rather than profits.

Dark Ink gained international attention after securing the rights to the official biography of horror icon Kane Hodder. Unmasked was featured by hundreds of media outlets worldwide and sold in more than fifty countries, helping establish Dark Ink as a respected name within the horror community.

Following the success of Unmasked, Dark Ink expanded rapidly, publishing novels, short story collections, anthologies, and acclaimed film-related titles such as On Location: The Making of Friday the 13th. Industry legends including Tom Savini, Gunnar Hansen, Shannon Shea, Eileen Dietz, and William Butler joined the Dark Ink family, solidifying its reputation as a leading publisher of horror film and genre-related books.

More than fifteen years later, Dark Ink titles have been sold in over ninety countries, translated into multiple languages, and adapted for film and television. What began as a passion project has grown into one of the most recognized independent publishers in horror.
